Quick rules · 2 to 4 drivers

• One to ten laps of the circuit (the host chooses) — the first car across the line wins.
• Arrow keys or W A S D to drive, Space for the handbrake. On a phone, hold it sideways and use the on-screen buttons.
• Yellow arrow boards mark the outside of every bend. Grass is slow and slippery; trees stop you dead.
• Once the first car finishes, everyone else has 60 seconds to cross the line.

Pro tip: Brake in a straight line before the bend, then turn in — braking and steering at the same time sends you wide into the trees.

Quick rules · Solo

• Never three of the same symbol next to each other, across or down.
• Every row and every column holds three gold and three blue.
• A mark between two cells must be obeyed: = means they match, × means they differ.
• Finish before the next puzzle arrives — an unfinished one is closed.

Pro tip: Start from pairs: two of the same side by side mean the cells at both ends must be the other symbol.

Quick rules · Solo

• Every row holds each digit from 1 to 9 exactly once.
• Every column holds each digit exactly once.
• Every 3 × 3 box holds each digit exactly once.
• The digits you are given cannot be changed — a digit that repeats in its row, column or box turns red.

Pro tip: Look for the digit that already appears most often — the few places left for it are usually the easiest to pin down.

Quick rules · Solo

• One star in every row and one in every column.
• One star in every coloured zone.
• Two stars may never touch — not side by side, and not at a corner either.
• Tap once for a × (your own note that no star goes there), again for a star, and once more to clear the cell.

Pro tip: Start with the smallest zone: it has the fewest places for its star, and every cell you rule out there helps with the zones around it.

Quick rules · 2 players or 2 vs 2 teams

• Roll a 6 to bring a token out of your yard.
• A 6, a capture or getting a token home earns another roll — but three 6s in a row ends your turn.
• Land exactly on an opponent to send them back to their yard. Star and start squares are safe.
• You need the exact number to reach home. First to bring every token home wins.

Pro tip: Get a second token out early — having a choice of moves lets you capture, dodge danger and use every roll.

Quick rules · 2 players or 2 vs 2 teams

• Pocket a coin of your own colour and you shoot again.
• You may only pocket the red queen after pocketing one of your own coins — then “cover” it on the same or next shot.
• Pocketing the striker is a foul: your turn ends and one of your coins comes back.
• Clear all nine of your coins with the queen covered to win the board.

Pro tip: Shallow cut shots drop far more often than thin, fine cuts — pick the side of the baseline that gives the straightest line.

Quick rules · 2 players

• White moves first; players alternate one move at a time.
• Each piece moves in its own pattern — the knight is the only piece that jumps.
• Put the enemy king in check with no escape to win by checkmate.
• Stalemate, repetition or insufficient material end the game in a draw.

Pro tip: Control the centre early and bring out knights and bishops before moving the same piece twice.

Quick rules · 2 players

• Pieces move diagonally forward one square.
• If you can capture, you must — jump over an opponent onto the empty square beyond.
• Keep jumping while more captures are available in the same turn.
• Reach the last row to crown a king. Capture or block every enemy piece to win.

Pro tip: Keep your back row filled as long as you can — it stops your opponent from crowning kings.

Quick rules · 2 players

• Men move diagonally forward but may capture forwards and backwards.
• You must make the capture that takes the most pieces.
• Kings fly: they move and capture any distance along a diagonal.
• Capture or block all of your opponent’s pieces to win.

Pro tip: A single flying king is extremely strong — protect the lanes that let you promote first.

Quick rules · 2 players

• Players take turns placing X and O on a 3 × 3 grid.
• Get three of your marks in a row — across, down or diagonally — to win.
• A full board with no line is a draw.

Pro tip: Take the centre if it is free — it is part of four possible winning lines.
